Stories, activities and information created by specialists

Being a children’s publisher means creating materials that are nourishing and appropriate for children. To do this, we work with a variety of professionals: graphic designers, comic book writers, illustrators, authors, photographers… It takes 4 to 6 months to create each issue with great attention placed on what content the children will read, and whether it is easy to understand and learn from.

Feedback from more than 4,500 children each year

We are constantly engaging our audience for feedback through direct engagement with school groups, storytelling sessions, and product testing sessions. Each story published is tested with children thanks to our partnerships with schools.

Reliable quality control

On a daily basis, Bayard writers consult specialists to ensure the high quality of our products: child psychiatrists, scientists, historians, botanists, palaeontologists, doctors ... willingly participate in the delicate work of making difficult subjects understandable for children. Many teachers use our magazines in class because they find the information trustworthy and reliable.

Value for money

At the end of the day, our passion is to help parents raise kids who love to read. To ensure that your child receives that special package in the mail with their name on the label, we’re happy to accommodate a change of magazine or change of address at any time during your subscription.

Our Story

1883

Bayard Presse launches its first publication in France, La Croix Newspaper. In the spirit of Maria Montessori, Bayard creates its first newspaper for children later in 1966. Creating a newspaper for children who could not yet read was a daring bet! But directly inspired by these new pedagogies and the soft and intimate relationship between child and parent, this magazine that we read with the little one our lap quickly meets extraordinary success.

1996

With 30 years of experience in creating impactful and engaging material for children, Bayard creates its first issues of StoryBox, AdventureBox and DiscoveryBox.  At first, the concept of a subscription publication for children was new and foreign in the United Kingdom.  It took persistence and passion to share with parents and educators the value of receiving a perfectly sized portion of learning in the mailbox on a regular basis.

2017

The Box Magazines are 30 years old! Having grown alongside its readers, Bayard celebrates the first generation of parents to share their childhood experiences with their little ones. The chinese magazines Red Apple has also celebrate its 40 years birthday! The series offers unparalleled legibility and reading comfort, which have been its success and trademark.

2019

Bayard introduces a new member of the Box Magazines - AdventureBox MAX!  For readers that want to stay in the realm of leisure fiction a little longer, AdventureBox MAX! enriches the Box Magazine reading journey with a little more action, drama, and suspense. Bayard has also introduced a new formula for Little Red Panda, to make it more coherent with the local STEM curriculum.
